Subscribe to our newsletterIf you've been promising yourself a new TV and soundbar, Amazon has just the thing in advance of its "seven days of epic savings": a bundle comprising the 55-inch Fire TV Omni mini-LED and Fire TV Soundbar Plus reduced from £1099.98 to £799.99, a saving of 27%.
This is a really nice TV and soundbar bundle. The Omni TVs offer good value for money and when we reviewed the Fire TV mini-LED it became our pick of the range: it's the only Fire TV that really surprised us with its high level of quality.
Today's best 55-inch Fire TV Omni mini-LED and soundbar bundle
Save 27% (£299.99)Amazon 55-inch Omni Series Mini-LED Fire TV + Amazon Fire TV Soundbar Plus: was £1,099.98 now £799.99 at AmazonThe Omni Series Mini-LED Fire TV is one of the best Fire TVs we've seen, with a colourful, vibrant and dynamic image and a smooth and responsive display. That makes it a great option for gaming and fast-moving sports, and it's really good value with a bundled soundbar. We like that too – we were surprised by how good the Fire TV soundbar sounds.
View DealShould you buy the Fire TV Omni mini-LED bundle?
This is a decent price cut on products that were already fairly keenly priced: the list price for the 55-inch model is £849.99 and the Fire TV Soundbar Plus has a list price of £249.99.
The Omni Mini-LED TV is a 4K TV with up to 1,400 nits of peak brightness, Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+ Adaptive and a 144Hz refresh rate for gaming. Alexa voice control is built in, and the TV has intelligent picture optimisation and adaptive brightness that changes based on the ambient light in your room.
At full price we gave the Fire TV Omni Mini-LED four out of five stars, and we did the same for the Fire TV Soundbar Plus. Cutting the price by 27% makes them only more tempting – especially in this nice bundle, where you can buy one thing and overhaul your whole setup. (And you can add surround speakers to the soundbar later if you like.)
This is a highly competitive market but we reckoned that the Omni Mini-LED TV was a solid buy at full price and would be an even better one if, or rather when, Amazon discounted it. And for the Soundbar Plus we felt that you'd have a tough job finding something that sounded better and cost less, so the discount on that is welcome too.
We've been saying for a long time that the true price of Amazon-branded hardware is what it costs during deal days and other big sales events, and that's true with this bundle: at full price your writer would have described the Omni Mini-LED TV as competitive rather than a bargain, but today's price is much more like it.
