Reddit user crazyserb89 took to the r/iOS forum to complain about the iPhone keyboard after the iOS 26 update.
'Way more typos'
"I’m making way more typos, the keyboard isn’t responding many times and the feedback feels odd," the user wrote in a post that drew more than 670 upvotes and 220 comments over four days.
"The thing that drives me crazy is when you type fast and you press emoji, it won’t register it at all!
"You need to make a small pause after fast typing and then to press emoji button, or otherwise it will not register your press!"
The original poster (OP) added previous versions of iOS would allow you to press and hold a letter and choose another variant of that letter while moving your finger freely.
"Now you need to be very precise when choosing the other version of the letter within the small area, because if you move your finger slightly outside that zone, it will cancel the function," the OP explained.
...'So annoying'
Redditors felt the pain of the OP.
"[I don't know] if it’s just me, but so often I go to type a space with my right thumb and it ends up typing n instead," another user wrote.
"Sometimes it’ll autocorrect, but usually I just end up with entire sentences separated by n instead of what I’m actually trying to type.
"Inswearntogodnitsnsof***ingnannoying."
Elsewhere, "Am I the only person who hasn’t faced any such issues with the keyboard? Everytwung else shame tobi woking hust fund," a fellow user quipped.
"The iOS keyboard sucks," a critic summed up, adding, "It just feels off to what it was and even Android keyboards.
"I know sometimes I type fast and don’t spell exactly right, but it doesn’t even try like other ones. It feels like it’s off ever so slightly and that ruins the whole experience."
A Common Complaint
The new keyboard has been a common complaint for iPhone users.
The Mac Observer called the iOS keyboard "a mess," pointing out that keys don't always register correctly and sometimes there's a delay between typing and input, which creates problems.
Some critics even experienced typing the correct letter, but getting the wrong one.
For Apple users, complaints about the keyboard have marred a number of positively reviewed features in recent weeks.
The iPhone 17e was announced this week and Apple users were impressed by its specifications.
Apple is planning an event this month, where users expect to see a number of big product announcements.
Finally, Newsweek covered a number of underutilized features that iPhone users might be missing.
