Mick Schumacher has said that his upcoming engagement in the American IndyCar series doesn't end his ambition to return to Formula One racing one day.
Schumacher, the son of joint record world champion Michael Schumacher, raced in F1 in 2021 and 2022 for the Haas team. He was not retained and had to be content with a role as Mercedes test and reserve driver, an engagement he ended in January.

The 26-year-old told an online news conference on Tuesday that the length of his contract must be determined and he dismissed suggestions it means the end of his F1 ambitions.
"I don't see why the step into Indycar should close a door," he said.
Schumacher added he was aware of the danger of fast IndyCar racing but that "I don't see why it should should be more dangerous than other" racing series.
"The speed is crazy but I accept the risk," he said.
The 2026 IndyCar season starts on March 1 in St Petersburg, Florida. The legendary Indianapolis 500 race is on May 9.
