The North Carolina Tar Heels have one commitment in the 2026 basketball recruiting class so far. But on Tuesday, they took a big step forward in the recruitment of another major target.

Five-star combo guard Dylan Mingo officially cut his list of 21 offers to his final four schools. On that list, he included North Carolina where he took a visit just a few weeks back. UNC is joined by Baylor, Penn State and Washington on his final list.

Mingo has taken 10 visits in his recruitment, including to the four finalists. He was on UNC's campus on November 14th which was the last visit that he took. The Tar Heels feel great about their chances with Mingo, but there are no current predictions or leans out there just yet.

With Mingo trimming his list down to four, a commitment to a program could be on the horizon.

The 6-foot-5, 195-pound Mingo is from New York and plays at Long Island Lutheran. He's a five-star recruit who is ranked No. 6 nationally, the No. 3 combo guard and No. 1 player in the state of New York per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

North Carolina's 2026 class has just one commit with Maximo Adams committing earlier in November and signing his letter of intent.
