Maggie Driscoll has it out for Eva Price (Picture: ITV)
When Coronation Street star Pauline McLynn teased that Maggie Driscoll would be causing trouble this Christmas, she wasn’t exaggerating!
Maggie has had it out for daughter-in-law Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) from the outset, and this week she was convinced she finally had the material to bring her down.
Poor Eva was left overwhelmed by guilt earlier this week when daughter Susie (Aurora Bradshaw) announced that she wanted a younger sibling for Christmas.
This hit a nerve for Eva, who had recently had an abortion – something that only Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) knew about.
Having found Eva in tears in the Rovers’ beer garden, Adam suggested that she get her secret off her chest by writing a letter to herself.

Eva took this advice and admitted to Adam that it had helped – unaware that it was about to cause absolute mayhem over Christmas Dinner.
After spotting Eva hiding a gift from Adam, unaware that it was for Alya Nazir (Sair Khan), and learning that Eva and Adam had been hugging, Maggie came to the conclusion that they were having an affair.
However, she felt as though she’d really struck gold when she went digging through Eva’s bag and found the letter.
Eager to expose Eva’s supposed lies, Maggie came up with a plot to destroy her – but the only person left out in the cold (literally) by the end of the day was Maggie herself.

Having invited Adam and Alya to Christmas Dinner for maximum destruction, Maggie beamed as she gave son Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker) his secret Santa present.
When he opened it, Maggie encouraged him to read the letter inside, which Eva was horrified to realise was the one she had written.
As Ben’s temper rose, Maggie smugly explained that it was proof of an affair between Eva and Adam, which they both vehemently denied.

However, this didn’t stop Ben from lashing out at Adam, punching him in the face, before Eva managed to explain that the baby she’d aborted hadn’t been Adam’s, but Ben’s.

Alone in the backroom, Eva explained to Ben that she had fallen pregnant during a previous rough patch in their relationship, when Ben had gone back to his ex-wife.
