Britney Spears, Adam Sandler and Beyoncé all rose to fame on a legendary talent show from the ‘80s and ‘90s. Now Netflix is bringing it back with a modern twist.
As per the steamer’s official synopsis, its new “Star Search” reboot has “Bigger talent. Higher stakes. Your vote. Anthony Anderson hosts the iconic competition show for a new generation – live. The search is on.”
The original show, which was later known as “Ed McMahon's Star Search,” ran from 1983 to 1995. In that time, icons such as Dave Chappelle, Christina Aguilera, and Justin Timberlake got a boost on their way to superstardom.
...Netflix's “Star Search” is also attempting to discover a new generation of talent, but it sets its sights a little broader. It's not just permitting musical artists this time, but dancers, comedians, and kids’ acts, all together on a live stage.
