While all NFL eyes will soon be fixated on the Cowboys taking on the Detroit Lions in a pivotal matchup, Wednesday did have the fun distraction of looking ahead for all 32 NFL franchises. The Athletic's Dane Brugler revealed his first mock of the season, looking ahead to the 2026 draft's first round, of which the Cowboys have two selections.
Brugler gave the Cowboys a cornerback with their own pick, Tennessee's Jermod McCoy, who is sidelined with an ACL injury. With the pick acquired from Green Bay in the Micah Parsons trade, the Cowboys landed Georgia linebacker CJ Allen.

The Lions limp into the game with injuries galore.
The Cowboys have a few notable injuries themselves as cornerback Trevon Diggs along with left tackle Tyler Guyton will have to wait at least another week to see game action.
A scan across the NFL landscape is never a dull moment beginning with Cleveland who opened up the practice window for quarterback Deshaun Watson who tore his achilles last season. Their rival Baltimore handed out a three-year extension to tight end Mark Andrews. Staying in the NFC North, Pittsburgh waived veteran cornerback Darius Slay and was claimed by the Bills who seek an upgrade in their secondary. Lastly, Buccaneers wideout Mike Evans saw his 21-day practice window open up in hopes his return can help Tampa push for a division crown.
