You'd have to work hard to find another platform that rides harder for Jalen Hurts. Sometimes, louder voices have the civic duty to support him. That doesn't mean the Philadelphia Eagles star isn't above reproach. We'd also be the first to tell you that what we've seen from him recently isn't going to cut it.

Few NFL signal-callers have the skill set or ceiling of Philadelphia's quarterback. Few have played worse than we've seen from him over the past weeks of regular-season action. Two statements that seemingly contradict one another can both be accurate, but we'll be doggone if we let a recent take fly. Some theories are just downright asinine and unforgivable.

Spike Eskin compares Jalen Hurts to Ben Simmons.

Let's be very clear about something. What you're about to read doesn't reflect the opinions of the entire 94 WIP-FM staff. Heck, they aren't even the opinions of the whole Afternoon Show.

This one has to be blamed totally on Spike Eskin. During a recent lead-in, he took some time to dissect Jalen Hurts' slump. Still, he sinned in nearly unforgivable fashion by comparing the Eagles' starter to former Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons.

Credit Ike Reese for a rebuttal. Again, these were not the opinions of the entire afternoon staff. This is what Eskin stated as his opinion. Reese disagreed. So do we.

Here's where we throw our challenge flag. Hurts isn't perfect. He has never claimed to be, but under no stretch of the imagination and under no circumstance is he akin to Ben Simmons.

We're not calling Spike Eskin asinine. We're saying that this take is. Seriously, what are we doing here? How does someone even draw this conclusion?

Some might say Hurts is too cautious and risk-averse. Some might say Simmons was terrified of shooting three-pointers, but we know Hurts works tirelessly to improve his game. Simmons refused to work on a jump shot.

We could delve deeper, but any criticism of Simmons at this point will be perceived as cruel. Let's add a few discussion points.

Hurts has a better work ethic. He's a better leader. He's better equipped to handle a demanding city like Philadelphia. We never saw any of that from Ben Simmons.
