Tennessee flips, signs 4-star ATH Legend Bey

The Tennessee Volunteers received some great news on Wednesday. Elite 4-star athlete Legend Bey has flipped his commitment back to the Vols and signed with the team.

Bey flipped from Tennessee to Ohio State less than a month ago, but it was reported on Wednesday morning that he had yet to sign his paperwork with the Buckeyes. Brian Hartline, who was the Buckeyes’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, took the head coaching job with South Florida, which could have impacted Bey’s decision.

Tennessee never gave up on recruiting Bey, and now those efforts have officially paid off.

Now, the Vols get one of the most dynamic athletes in the 2026 class, and also take away a key piece from the Buckeyes. 247Sports ranks Bey as a four-star prospect, the No. 7 ATH in the country, and the No. 21 prospect out of Texas.

“Yeah, Legend on the video, he is dynamic,” Josh Heupel said today. “Special playmaker, ball in his hands. Got a chance to watch him live and in person too. And he is such a unique tool. The skill set, having played quarterback, the command, the presence that he has back there. Throws the ball really extremely well in person. As a playmaker, man, the ability to be involved out in space, perimeter screen, the ability to go up and high point balls, he’s extremely loose. He’s a guy that can be used in the return game as well. So just a dynamic tool that we have an opportunity to add to, to the offensive arsenal.”

Bey was a dynamic quarterback in high school who projects to be a versatile weapon at the next level. In 2025, Bey threw for 1,341 yards with 15 touchdowns and three interceptions. The athlete also rushed for 1,626 yards and a whopping 23 touchdowns, while also catching two passes for 26 yards.

The first day of the early signing period is definitely a win for the Vols. The team was able to sign elite wide receiver Tristen Keys, dynamic quarterback Faizon Brandon, and flip 4-star defensive end Carter Gooden, just to name a few.
