Evaluation:

The staff placed a premium on size with this offensive line class, and Close is a good example of that at 6-6/300. He uses his size well as a pass blocker by getting a wide base and walling off players from their path to the quarterback. He’s playing against players much smaller than him, so it can be tough to see how his skill set translates to college, but if he can develop his technique as he practices against better players, he should be fine.

Close will have to grow his game as a run blocker after spending high school running over much smaller players. He tends to play high, which isn’t a problem when you’re stronger than everyone, but this will be an issue when everyone is as big as he is. Playing lower and with better technique will likely be what dictates if he gets on the field or not.
