Kieran Gill’s Chelsea Confidential piece has some interesting content today on the Chelsea transfer front.
The loan in of Facundo Buonanotte came late in the summer and was something of a surprise. Gill claims that the Brighton man was on his way to tonight’s opposition Leeds before Chelsea swooped in with a bid of their own, as detailed below.

“As Confidential understands it: season-long loan, no obligation, no option, wages covered, circa £2million cost, and the opportunity to match any bids that may arrive next summer.”
So if they want, they have the first option on the 20 year old.
Having said that, one would say it looks pretty unlikely that they have any interest in buying him now. Buonanotte has missed out on 5 matchday squads in the Premier League in a row – and that will become 6 very shortly when the team news for Leeds comes out.

The good news is that he was expecting that – “sources say Buonanotte knew he was signing up to be a squad player this season… he chose Chelsea because they are a big club with bigger targets than Leeds and involved in the Champions League, which he wanted to compete in and now has.”
In other news…
Chelsea could have beaten Arsenal on Sunday, but a red card to Moises Caicedo put paid to that idea. According to one podcast, it was the worst possible time for the midfielder to let us down.
Two top young talents in Ligue 1 are apparently being chased by Chelsea, who want to put in some crucial groundwork in January before a summer saga develops.
