Mountain West Bowl Projections: 2025 Week 14. Almost to Bowl Season!

We are back for another week discussing bowl teams. Our team at Mountain West Connection will be releasing our bowl projections each week. After a loss by the Aztecs and a big win by the Rebels, I flipped those two teams, trying to represent things as they are heading into the weekend. UNLV could flip again, with Boise State, depending on how things go in the MW Championship. But I think Hawaii, Potato, New Mexico, and Arizona are pretty set.

I have the Broncos winning a close game over UNLV and going to the LA Bowl for the second time in three seasons. The rest of my picks are regional and trying to reward the other two-loss teams.

The MW champion is not quite set, but switching to the Broncos after the Aztecs loss to the upstart Lobos. Everyone is cheering on underdog New Mexico. Not sure what bowl is left for Utah State, but a valiant effort against the Broncos. Fresno State is sliding despite winning their game against SJSU.

These are my predictions on the assumption that Duke does not win the ACC title game. If the Blue Devils win, I think the winner of UNLV-Boise State makes the CFP, given all the chaos in top head coaches (i.e. Jon Sumrall, Eric Morris) leaving their teams before the playoffs. We shall see if that takes place, but for now, this is what I think will happen.

I’ve gone back and forth between who will win this weekend, but Boise just seems to have UNLV’s number. UNLV has 10 losses over the past three years, 4 of which were to Boise. Boise has outscored them by an average of 38 to 30 and outgained them by an average of 463 to 373. The rest of the bowls, I’m guessing, will be based on region.
