Washington secured an intriguing offensive piece for its 2026 class with the signing of Sam Vyhlidal, a 6’4”, 225-pound athlete from Mountainside High School (Beaverton, OR). Rated as the No. 76 athlete nationally, Vyhlidal gives the Huskies a versatile offensive weapon who projects as a tight end at the college level.
Though Washington arrived relatively late with an offer, Vyhlidal wasted no time scheduling an official visit to Seattle. His trip made a strong impression, and rather than continue with planned visits- most notably to UNLV- he chose to commit to the Huskies and lock in his future early.

As a junior, he posted 10 receptions for 151 yards and 2 touchdowns, while also adding 31 carries for 187 yards and 4 scores. That hybrid usage reflects both his versatility and the mismatch potential Washington believes it can unlock once he settles into a full-time position.
At tight end, Vyhlidal brings an ideal growth frame with the ability to add weight without sacrificing mobility. Washington has recently emphasized tight ends who can align anywhere in the formation—much like Decker DeGraaf—and Vyhlidal fits that mold with his combination of length, flexibility, and movement skills. His experience carrying the ball also reflects a comfort level with contact and spatial awareness that translates well to a modern TE role.
Vyhlidal becomes the first TE in the 2026 class and gives the Huskies a high-upside playmaker who can grow into a fully balanced contributor. I look forward to calling him “Sam V” for the next 4-5 years. His versatility makes him exactly the type of athlete Washington has thrived in developing.
Welcome to Montlake, Sam!
