The Pittsburgh Steelers made a slew of roster moves on Tuesday. After promoting veteran cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. from the practice squad to the 53-man roster, they released fellow cornerback Darius Slay in a corresponding move. Should the Las Vegas Raiders consider signing Slay?

Slay was recently a healthy scratch for the Steelers. The 34-year-old cornerback is a six-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl winner. Slay will almost certainly attempt to latch on immediately elsewhere, though he could possess interest in playing for a playoff contender, which the 2-10 Raiders are not.

It's worth noting that Raiders defensive backs coach Marcus Robertson was Slay's position coach during his rookie season with the Detroit Lions in 2013. That familiarity could lead to a potential reunion. The Raiders should at least ask Robertson's opinion of Slay.

Eric Stokes continues to play at a high level for the Raiders at cornerback. Kyu Blu Kelly, who has consistently struggled, has served as the opposite boundary starter. This past weekend against the Los Angeles Chargers, however, rookie cornerback Darien Porter played just one fewer snap than Kelly for the second straight game.

The Raiders are starting to replace Kelly with Porter. That's the correct move, as Pete Carroll's rebuilding squad needs to evaluate their rookie class. If bringing in Slay would stunt Porter's growth, then the Raiders shouldn't even consider the possibility.
