On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy hockey managers to stream, roster or utilize in standard leagues and/or DFS games. Players and goalies highlighted for streaming in standard leagues are rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues.
Carter Verhaeghe, LW, FLA vs. TOR (56% rostered) - FanDuel $5,000
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementIf you’ve jumped off the Verhaeghe wagon, this is the time to jump back on. He’s scored two goals and six points in his past three games, and finally the pucks are starting to bounce his way. His low shooting percentage dating back to last season is still concerning – you wonder if it’s poor luck or the start of a decline – but the Leafs are struggling and the Panthers haven’t had much trouble scoring.
Will Cuylle, LW/RW, NYR vs. DAL (47% rostered) - FanDuel $5,300
Not sure if any Ranger is worth streaming on home ice, but note Cuylle is expected to play on the Rangers’ five-forward PP1 unit following the injury to Adam Fox. Cuylle has scored in spurts, including three points in his past four games, and note the Stars PK is arguably their weakest spot, ranking 21st in the league.
Patrick Kane, RW, DET vs. BOS (37% rostered) - FanDuel $5,900
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementI still like Kane a lot, especially as a streamer, mostly due to his offensive upside. He’s missed quite a few games this season but still averages nearly a point per game, and he notched an assist in their previous game against the Bruins as they wrap up their home-and-home series. The Bruins are missing Charlie McAvoy and may also potentially miss David Pastrnak, and the Wings have last change on home ice to give them the edge in matchups.
Gabriel Landeskog, LW, COL vs. VAN (37% rostered) - FanDuel $4,200
Landeskog missed Monday’s skate due to illness and most likely will be a game-time decision. If he plays, he’s a top streaming option given the increased usage – he played a season-high 21:13 against the Wild – the increased production – five points in three games – and the promotion to PP1. The Canucks are horrible defensively in a matchup the Avs should dominate.
Jamie Benn, C/LW, DAL at NYR (22% rostered) - FanDuel $4,800
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementIt’s the deployment more than anything. Benn is skating L1 with Wyatt Johnston and Mikko Rantanen, and despite Benn’s lack of footspeed is finding ways to score. He’s up to three goals and six points in his past six games with only even-strength production and little PP exposure. The Rangers have an elite goalie but will be without top player/defender Adam Fox in a season where they’ve been horrendous at home.
Zachary Bolduc, LW/RW, MTL vs. OTT (16% rostered) - FanDuel $4,700
Bolduc’s getting a lot of attention over the past week following his promotion to L1/PP1 to play with Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield. He was held off the scoresheet against the Avs but prior to that game scored five points in two games. The Habs have won four of their past five meetings averaging almost five goals per game in those wins.
Nick Paul, C/LW, TB at NYI (5% rostered) - FanDuel $4,900
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAnthony Cirelli is currently the 1C with Brayden Point out, but I like Paul’s fantasy value a little better for his shot volume. He’s on a three-game points streak skating PP1 and on L2 with Jake Guentzel on his left. Ideally, you’d want to see Paul get more ice time but he’s been producing regardless, so it’s not a big concern.
Ryan Hartman, C/RW, MIN at EDM (3% rostered) - FanDuel $4,800
Danila Yurov is not expected to play and Marco Rossi is still injured, so look for Hartman to center Kirill Kaprizov and Mats Zuccarello. The Wild should have no problems scoring against a horrid Oilers defense and goaltending.
