David Finley has been with the Dodgers since 2015, the first year Andrew Friedman took over as president of baseball operations in Los Angeles. Finley, the team’s vice president of scouting, has won seven championships during his scouting career – 1997 with the Florida Marlins, 2004, 2007, and 2013 with the Boston Red Sox, and 2020, 2024, and 2025 with the Dodgers.

From John Perrotto at Forbes:

“They’re all very special, but this year is probably a little more because of the back-to-back,” Finley said. “It’s tough to repeat. What I really enjoy is seeing how happy people are when they win their first World Series. It’s such a big thrill, and it’s what you work for.”

R.J. Anderson at CBS Sports looked at the long history of baseball labor negotiations, including hemming and hawing about a salary cap as far back as the 19th century.

“What does the future look like? When it comes to a baseball salary cap, you don’t need a time machine to fancy a guess,” Anderson wrote. “All you need is an understanding of the sport’s past.”

From November, a newly refurbished park in La Habra was renamed Vin Scully Centennial Park. More from Lou Ponsi at the Orange County Register.
