Florida State offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn might be eyeing a new position as the coaching carousel gains momentum.

The former Auburn coach, who led the Tigers to a national championship appearance and later spent four seasons at UCF, has rebuilt his resume in Tallahassee. But his future remains a subject of speculation following Florida State’s announcement that head coach Mike Norvell will return in 2026.
Ahead of the Seminoles’ regular-season finale against Florida, Malzahn answered a question about his intentions beyond 2025. His response did little to quiet rumors.
“Yeah... My intent is to help us get bowl eligible and win this game, and that’s exactly what my focus is," Malzahn said. Not exactly a perfect response.
The answer was far from a firm commitment. The uncertainty surrounding a program facing back-to-back losing seasons is notable.
