The Detroit Lions managed to escape their matchup with the New York Giants with a 34-27 win in overtime on Sunday.
The Lions needed huge runs from Jahmyr Gibbs and a career-long field goal from Jake Bates to stay in and eventually win the game. Struggles on both sides of the ball look to be the norm for this version of the Lions, making each player's individual performance increasingly important in a tight divisional race.

Tate Ratledge
Rookie guard Tate Ratledge and the Lions offensive line had another tough outing against a talented NFC East front. The Giants sacked Jared Goff three times and repeatedly allowed the kind of pressure that has made the team look like a shell of what it was in 2024.
Ratledge held up well, all things considered, not getting credited with any of those pressures individually. While issues remain along the rest of the line, he'll need to continue this level of play for the Lions to stay afloat.

Tyleik Williams
Tyleik Williams earned another start as the Lions continue to utilize him, Alim McNeil, and DJ Reader on the defensive interior.
Williams's most notable play of the day was, unfortunately, a missed sack opportunity on Jameis Winston in the first half that could've been big for gaining some momentum in the game. Williams simply whiffed on the play, and the Giants continued to have their way.
Williams finished with two tackles.

Isaac TeSlaa
Rookie receiver Isaac TeSlaa saw plenty of action, seeing the field for 26 passing snaps; however, he couldn't make his mark on this game. TeSlaa saw only one target on which Jared Goff didn't get him a very accurate throw.
