In the second week of the Louisiana high school football playoffs, there was definitely no shortage of stellar standouts.

Here’s a look at those top performers from Week 2 of the Louisiana playoffs. Also, readers can now vote on who they think should be the Louisiana Player of the Week. Vote as many times as you like until 11:59 p.m. CT on Sunday, and the winner will be announced next week.

Top performances from Week 2 of the playoffs in Louisiana high school football

(This list is in alphabetical order)

Jarvis Blackston, Neville

A sophomore running back, Blackston carried the ball 17 times for 108 yards and two TDs in the Tigers’ 31-14 win against Mandeville in the Division I Non-Select round.

Jacobi Boudreaux, John Curtis Christian

Boudreaux rushed for 125 yards on 11 carries and scored three TDs in the Patriots’ 49-7 win against St. Thomas More.

Jeremiah Bushnell, Iowa

A senior receiver, Bushnell hauled in eight passes for 139 yards and two TDs in the Yellowjackets’ 68-28 win against Northwest.

Braylon Calais, Cecilia

Calais rushed for 193 yards and two TDs but really helped the Bulldogs by taking over at quarterback and throwing for 165 yards and three scores in a 54-42 win against Lakeshore.

Keaton Cason, Logansport

Cason, a senior quarterback, passed for 85 yards and two TDs, rushed for 60 yards on 14 carries and also caught a TD pass in the Tigers’ 34-31 win against Welsh.

Wydell Clark Jr., Ouachita Parish

A senior, Clark returned a punt 57 yards for a TD in the Lions’ 21-19 playoff win at Destrehan in the Division I Non-Select round. He also had four tackles, a tackle for loss and a pass breakup on defense.

Damari Drake, Evangel Christian

A senior, Drake recorded a team-high 10 tackles, including seven solo stops and two tackles for loss, along with a sack, three quarterback hurries, a caused fumble and recovering another fumble in the Eagles’ 34-14 win against St. Paul’s in the Division I Select regional round. But he also had a huge night offensively, rushing for 174 yards on 15 carries.

Wyatt Dubois, St. Edmund

Dubois rushed for 231 yards on 15 carries and scored five TDs and also had three two-point conversions in a 44-36 win against Covenant Christian. He also led the team on defense with 8.5 tackles.

Cooper Faucheux, Belle Chasse

Belle Chasse’s defense was on point in a 7-6 Division II Non-Select regional playoff win against Opelousas, and Faucheux may have been the most important player. The junior picked off three passes and deflected two more while registering three tackles.

Max Gassiott, Central-Baton Rouge

Gassiott, a junior quarterback, was 19-of-26 for 308 yards and two TDs and also had 47 yards rushing and two more scores in the Wildcats’ 46-32 win against East Ascension in the Division I Non-Select playoffs.

Jordin Griffin, Barbe

Griffin, a junior tailback, rushed for 249 yards on 28 carries and scored three TDs as the Buccaneers posted their second straight road playoff upset win, this time downing West Monroe, 42-35.

John Johnson, Edna Karr

The Cougars’ senior dual-threat quarterback, a Washington State commit, definitely had an impact running and passing in the Cougars’ 39-13 win against Jesuit in the Division I Select regional round. He passed for three TDs and rushed for three more. Johnson completed 15-of-20 passes for 177 yards and three TDs while rushing for 185 yards on 17 carries and his three scores.

Tylek Lewis, Zachary

Lewis, a junior running back, rushed for 134 yards and scored four TDs in the Broncos’ 44-21 win against Denham Springs in the Division I Non-Select regional round.

George Loop, Newman

Loop returned the opening kickoff 92 yards for a TD but didn’t stop there. He also caught TD passes covering 87 and 47 yards in the Greenies’ 42-13 win against Menard in the Division III Select round. Loop finished the night with 280 all-purpose yards.

Alex Munoz, Teurlings Catholic

Munoz, a senior quarterback, completed 16-of-19 passes for 320 yards and two TDs and rushed for 157 yards on 19 carries with three scores in the Rebels’ 55-22 win against Bonnabel in the Division I Select regional round.

Terrell Pegues, Mansfield

Pegues, a senior, rushed for 185 yards on 20 carries and two TDs and also had four two-point conversion rushes as the Wolverines held off Marksville, 62-60, in overtime in the Division III Non-Select regionals.

Trevin Simon, Ascension Catholic

Simon, a senior tailback, rushed for 379 yards on 13 carries and scored six TDs in the Bulldogs’ 52-9 win against St. Mary’s in the Division IV Select regional playoffs. That effort gave him more than 3,000 yards on the season, setting a new school record.

Kenny Thomas, North DeSoto

Thomas, a senior tailback, carried the ball 12 times for 141 yards and found the end zone two times in the Griffins’ 56-13 win against DeRidder in the Division II Non-Select regional round.

Braylon Walker, Lafayette Christian

A quarterback, Walker finished by completing 17-of-20 passes for 329 yards and six TDs while adding 57 yards rushing in the Knights’ 57-10 win against Parkview Baptist.

Kason Williams, Alexandria

A sophomore tailback, Williams rushed for 146 yards on 22 carries and three TDs while catching three passes for 94 yards and another score in the Trojans’ 38-27 win against Brother Martin in the Division I Select regional round.
