The top two picks of the 2024 NFL Draft had wildly different rookie seasons. Caleb Williams, selected first, guided the Chicago Bears to a 5–12 finish and the NFC North's cellar. Jayden Daniels, meanwhile, took the Washington Commanders all the way to an NFC Championship Game, where they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Questions quickly surrounded Williams, with some prematurely wondering if he was headed toward draft-bust territory. Daniels, meanwhile, claimed Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Daniels' Commanders struggled before he was injured and knocked out of action. Williams and the Bears opened the season with two consecutive losses. Chicago has since caught fire. They have won eight of their last nine games and share an identical 8-3 record with Philadelphia.
The Bears visit Philadelphia on Black Friday, where the City of Brotherly Love plans a blackout. The Eagles hope to put a crushing loss to the Dallas Cowboys behind them. Ben Johnson has been the best thing to happen to Caleb Williams, but even though he might be believed to sit in a tier below Dak Prescott, Philadelphia can't afford to take him lightly because he's improving in an area that every quarterback would love to say they excel in.
The Eagles can't ignore Caleb Williams' superpower.
Don't look now, but Caleb Williams has developed a clutch gene. Seemingly, every week, the Bears find themselves down on the scoreboard and needing a drive to turn their fortunes. Seemingly, every week, Williams answers the call and makes that happen.

In each of those scenarios, Williams has led his team to fourth-quarter comebacks. That's what we expect from Matt Stafford. That's what we call a 'clutch' gene. The Bears signal-caller is on fire, and following last Sunday's game in Arlington, one can see why that is concerning.
The Eagles are fully capable of scoring on Chicago's defense. That isn't a matter of opinion, but they'd be wise to keep their foot on the gas because the second-year Bears star has developed a superpower.
Williams' poise, maturation, and development have given everyone cause to retire what was an unfair 'potential bust' label. By the looks of things, the Windy City may be home to one of the game's great late-game performers, thanks to the help of an offensive genius in Ben Johnson.
