When you think of positions that are synonymous with recording sacks, it’s typically edge rushers, outside linebackers and defensive tackles. Perhaps not so much at the off-ball linebacker position. The Lions, however, are bucking this trend a bit this season.
Detroit currently has two off-ball linebackers, Jack Campbell and Derrick Barnes, with four sacks this season. That is tied for the league lead. It’s the first time since 2018 that the Lions have two off-ball linebackers with at least four sacks.

In addition, the Lions’ linebacker unit ranks first in sacks (10.5) and run stops (62). They are tied for first with 45 pressures and rank second with 25 tackles that have gone for either a loss or no gain.
The Lions already had arguably the best linebacker group in the league. They now have even further fuel for that argument.
