LINCOLN, NE (KCAU) – Thursday, the families will be together for Thanksgiving, but come Friday, some homes might be divided. The Huskers will host the Hawkeyes for both teams’ final regular-season games of the year!

Heading into this matchup, the Hawkeyes sit at 7-4 after a close win over Michigan State last Saturday.

They currently hold the series lead over the Huskers, 30-22, and have won the last two! But with this year’s Husker squad also at 7-2, the Hawkeyes have their hands full!

“Every matchup is going to be really critical because they do a really nice job with all of those things. On top of that, we are going into a tough environment. They have a very loyal fan base. Always a tough environment to walk into,” praised Hawkeye’s coach Kirk Ferentz.

Meanwhile, the Huskers are looking to bounce back after a huge loss to Penn State, with freshman quarterback T.J. Lateef being shut down completely in that one. So he is hungry to get back into the endzone.

But head coach Matt Rhule says this game is never an easy win.

Rhule explained, “Our guys have to play their best football. There is no coaching trick against Iowa. There is no like, hey, we got them on this. Or there’s a hole in Phil Parker’s defense. Or here’s how I can get them. The guys are going to have to play well. That is certainly the same for special teams. They are sound. They are well coached and bought into it.”
