Eagles OT sends strong message to fans regarding OC Kevin Patullo

The Philadelphia Eagles fell to 8-3 this season with a 24-21 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. So far, one of the biggest criticisms of fans of the defending Super Bowl champions after the loss to the Cowboys, as well as throughout the season, has been about the team's offense, and particularly offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo.

However, one Eagles offensive lineman doesn't think all the criticism of Patullo is all that fair. Sitting down with Sports Radio 94WIP in Philadelphia on Monday, eighth-year player Jordan Mailata discussed the team's offensive struggles and Patullo as a coach, and he took umbrage at all the attacks directed at Patullo this season. In fact, he personally asked fans to put more accountability for the offensive issues on the players themselves.

"Put some blame on us players because we're out there playing. We're the ones who are crapping all over the place," Mailata said.

Understandably, Philadelphia fans might be a bit upset with the team's offensive production this season. The Eagles are just 24th in the NFL in offensive yards per game this season, and 17th in points per game. It's a far cry from last season, when the team was eighth in yards per game and seventh in points per game during the regular season, which led to their eventual Super Bowl title.

But the Eagles are still 8-3 overall and holding a firm grasp on the NFC East lead at the moment, and should easily find themselves in the playoff picture if they keep playing at their current pace. So while the struggles are frustrating to a team coming off a season in which it won the ultimate prize, they aren't hurting their postseason chances too much yet.
