- Greenlit alongside season 1 in September 2022- No release date or trailer revealed yet- Writers' room only reconvened in November 2026- Unclear how much script work has been completed- Main cast expected to return- Story will pick up after its season 1 finale- No word on whether more seasons will be made- Creator Vince Gilligan has a three to four-season plan, but isn't beholden to that

Pluribus season 2 is officially in the works, Carol. The popular sci-fi mystery drama received a two-season order in September 2022, and work has been underway on the next entry for – at the time of publication – just over a month, with the writers' room reassembling in November 2025.

Pluribus season 2 release date: what we know so far

Pluribus season 2's release date is yet to be revealed. However, as I mentioned above, Apple gave the show a two-season order when it won the rights to Vince Gilligan's latest TV creation in September 2022. We've known for over three years now that another chapter would be made.

It doesn't sound like we'll see it for a long time, though. Speaking to RadioTimes.com in November 2025, Gilligan said the writing team would be assembling later that month to start working on its scripts.

Until those are penned and signed off on, filming can't begin. The best-case scenario in my eyes? For a production of this size, if the scripts are complete early next year, principal photography can start sometime in mid- to late 2026. So, at the very earliest, season 2 launches between late 2027 and early 2028.

Pluribus season 2 trailer: is there one?

Nope. Considering the cameras haven't even started rolling on season 2 yet, there won't be one for a long time, either.

Once a trailer is eventually released, I'll update this section, but don't expect that to happen until sometime in 2027.

Pluribus season 2 likely cast

Spoilers follow for Pluribus season 1.

Here's who I expect to see again in Pluribus season 2:

  • Rhea Seehorn as Carol Sturka
  • Karolina Wydra as Zosia
  • Carlos Manuel Vesga as Manousos Oviedo
  • Samba Schutte as Koumba Diabaté
  • Menik Gooneratne as Laxmi
  • Darinka Arones as Kusimayu

The first three individuals are key players in Pluribus. Meanwhile, the latter trio appeared sporadically throughout its first season, and I'd expect them to do so again next time around.

New additions could be made to the cast of one of the best Apple TV shows for season 2, but much depends on the story that Gilligan and company want to tell. Until firm details are revealed on this front, we can't say if its ensemble will grow in its next installment.

For what it's worth, Seehorn told Variety there are two actors she wants to see in Pluribus: Olivia Colman and Jessie Buckley. Seehorn's tongue-in-cheek reason? So she can "force them to be friends with me". Make it happen, Gilligan.

Full spoilers follow for Pluribus' debut season.

Unsurprisingly, Pluribus season 2's plot brief hasn't been released yet. If you want to know more about the story threads it'll have to address, though, my spoiler-filled Pluribus season 1 ending explained piece is a good place to start.

Gilligan and company are bound to have more to say about season 1 episode 9, as well as the direction of travel for next season's story. However, as I'm writing this guide in mid-December – and, therefore, ahead of Pluribus' season 1 finale and the 2025 festive break – I'm unable to include any quotes from the cast and crew about what may lie in store for Carol, Zosia, and Manousos.

Once I'm back in 2026, I'll update this section with anything interesting I can find.

Will there be a third season of Pluribus?

The short answer is: we don't know. Nonetheless, Gilligan has expressed his desire for more installments if Pluribus continues to be one of Apple's most-watched TV Originals.

Speaking to Variety, Gilligan admitted he could see it running for four seasons. However, citing one of his other critically-acclaimed series, Breaking Bad – which was originally going to end after three, but ran for six – as an example of how such plans can change, he said Pluribus may go on longer.

Ultimately, Gilligan added, it would depend on lead star Rhea Seehorn's desire to continue telling Carol's story. In her own chat with Variety, Seehorn admitted she'd love the show to run for 10 seasons, before jokingly adding "or whatever I can force Vince to do."

Of course, based on the show's popularity and/or production costs, Apple will also be a determining factor in whether more seasons are necessary. For now, we know Pluribus season 2 will be made, but it's anyone's guess if a third and fourth will follow suit.
