Blue Jays All-Star Pitcher Urged to Bolt Toronto for Giants

The Toronto Blue Jays have made two key additions to their starting rotation this offseason, likely meaning Chris Bassitt will not return to Toronto.

Bassitt has been with the Blue Jays since 2023 and has a 3.89 ERA in 96 games with the team. However, the Blue Jays no longer need him, and he could be a great addition for a team in need of starting pitching. FanSided's Christopher Kline urged Bassitt to sign with the San Francisco Giants.

Bassitt had a 3.96 ERA last season and was moved to the bullpen for the postseason. He thrived out of the bullpen, posting a 1.04 ERA in seven postseason outings, but he may be looking for a team that will let him start games. The Giants are certainly a team that could use starting pitching.

The Giants signed Adrian Houser this offseason and figure to have Logan Webb and Robbie Ray leading the rotation. After that, there are some question marks. Bassitt is a solid arm to have in the middle of the rotation, and he rarely misses games. Since 2020, he has made 163 starts. He was an All-Star in 2021 for the Athletics.

The Blue Jays figure to have Shane Bieber, Cese, Ponce, Trey Yesavage and Kevin Gausman in their rotation. For depth, they have José Berríos and Eric Lauer right now. Beyond that, they also have their No. 4 prospect, Ricky Tiedemann.
