With Garrett Nussmeier set to leave, the Tigers are expected to aggressively pursue quarterbacks in the transfer portal this offseason. Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss is an obvious connection. However, the Rebels quarterback may not be eligible for a sixth season.

It's unclear whether Chambliss would choose to reunite with Kiffin at LSU, stay at Ole Miss or transfer to another program if the NCAA grants the quarterback another year of eligibility.

Florida quarterback DJ Lagway has been linked to LSU as a possible option via the transfer portal.

Per Matt Moscona of ESPN, the Tigers have "made contact" with reps of the Gators quarterback.

"Quick tidbit: source confirms LSU has made contact with DJ Lagway’s reps," Moscona wrote. "This shouldn’t come as a great surprise. LSU is in desperate need of quarterback help and should be in the mix for all viable portal options."

The sophomore quarterback threw for 1,915 yards, 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 2024. He added another 101 yards on the ground in his freshman season.

Lagway threw for 2,264 yards, 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions this season. He added 136 yards and one touchdown on the ground for the 4-8 Gators.

On Dec. 15, Lagway announced his intention to enter the transfer portal on Jan. 2. The decision came after Florida hired Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall.

"I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have been part of such an incredible program here at the University of Florida," Lagway wrote on his Instagram page. "After much prayer, reflection, and thoughtful consideration, I have decided to enter the transfer portal."

Lagway is expected to be one of the top quarterbacks in the transfer portal this offseason. Former Florida head coach Steve Spurrier suggested Baylor could be an option for Lagway, a native of Willis, Texas.
