He had a solid year overall, completing 63.6% of his throws, notching 17 touchdowns and just nine interceptions. Wide receiver Jacon De Jesus led the conference in receptions with 99, racking up 892 yards and five touchdowns. The Golden Bears put together two solid wins in their last three games, defeating No. 14 Louisville on the road (29-26) and squeaking past No. 25 SMU at home (38-35).

The Rainbow Warriors are led by quarterback Micah Alejado, whose 283.2 yards per game led the conference. Alejado completed 65.9% of his passes on the year for 2,832 yards and 21 touchdowns. 12 of those touchdowns went to his favorite big-play receiver, Jackson Harris, who caught 49 passes for 963 yards, leading the conference in touchdown receptions and yards per reception (19.7).California and Hawaii last met on August 26, 2016, with the Golden Bears coming out on top 51-31.
