If you ask your friends to name an ereader, then I imagine nine times out of ten you'll get the answer: "Amazon Kindle". It's so popular and well-regarded that we crowned it the winner in numerous different categories in our guide to the best ereaders. And if you're shopping for one this holiday, Amazon has slashed the price of all models one last time before the end of the year.

As well as being highly regarded, the Amazon Kindle is now on sale for $89.99 (was $109.99). That's a $20 discount on what was already Amazon's most budget-friendly offering. You can also find it on sale in the UK, with the Amazon Kindle down to £79.99 (was £94.99) on the other side of the Atlantic.

Amazon Kindle: was US$109.99 now US$89.99 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼With very little time left of 2025, now is the last chance of the year to save on one of Amazon's most popular Kindles. The $20 discount isn't quite as good as we saw during Black Friday, but it's still a really good price for the basic ereader that we rated four out of five stars.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite: was US$159.99 now US$134.99 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼This is just $10 more than the price we saw on Prime Day and Black Friday for the Kindle Paperwhite. The more premium ereader scored four stars in our Kindle Paperwhite review, thanks to its excellent features, best-suited to avid readers. You get a 12-week battery life, a glare-free 7-inch screen, adjustable warm light, and storage space for thousands of books.

Amazon Kindle Colorsoft: was US$249.99 now US$169.99 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼The Kindle Colorsoft is down to within $20 of its lowest price as part of the end-of-year sales. As Amazon's first and only colored Kindle, it's a must-have for people who love reading travel guides, graphic novels, and other genres with a lot of images and photographs. Or if you just want to browse your entire library in its fully vibrant glory. It's USB-C and wireless charging compatible, lasting up to 8 weeks on a full battery.

Amazon Kindle Scribe: was US$419.99 now US$279.99 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼This updated version of the Kindle Scribe has only been discounted a handful of times in the past – and this latest offer matches the best-ever deal we saw during Black Friday. The Scribe combines some of the best features of the Kindle Paperwhite, such as the glare-free and auto-adjusting display, along with the option to take notes, comment on documents, and doodle using the included stylus pen. Our Kindle Scribe review was down on some missing features that have been added in recent updates, so now this is better value for a multi-functional device.

Amazon Kindle: was £94.99 now £79.99 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼The latest version of the standard Kindle is on sale now at Amazon. It's a basic ereader, but it still boasts a four-week battery life and space for thousands of books. Given it's at least £60 cheaper than the Paperwhite, this is clearly a better pick for the infrequent reader who's after a more budget-friendly option.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite: was £159.99 now £134.99 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼Amazon has also launched a decent deal on the latest Kindle Paperwhite for Christmas. We found in our Kindle Paperwhite review that it's packed with features to suit all avid readers, including a 12-week battery life, glare-free 7-inch screen, adjustable warm light, and storage space for thousands of books. This is a good buy and one of the best ereaders out there; it's just a shame that the days of even bigger discounts are well in the past.

Amazon Kindle Colorsoft: was £239.99 now £164 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼The Kindle Colorsoft is back down to its lowest-ever price in the end-of-year sales. As Amazon's first and only colored Kindle, it's a must-have if you love reading travel guides, graphic novels, and other genres with a lot of images and photographs – or just want to view your entire ebook library in its full colour glory. The ereader is also USB-C and wireless charging compatible, lasts up to eight weeks on a full battery, and has enough storage for thousands of books.
View DealThe Amazon Kindle (2024) remains the best Kindle for anyone on a budget. It's not much of an improvement over the previous iteration, but that one has now been discontinued, which means this is the Kindle to go for if you're on a tight budget.
We love the Matcha green colorway and the compact form factor, which makes it small enough to throw in your bag or even a large pocket. That means you're good to catch up on your latest book whenever you have a few moments to spare.
We are also big fans of the Kindle ecosystem, which is so simple compared to many competitors. So, if you love reading and want an electronic way to indulge in your favorite pastime, the Amazon Kindle will be a great fit.
If you'd like to see what else is discounted, then we recommend checking out our Kindle deals and tablet deals pages. Now is a great time of the year to find a saving or two.
