By Michael GallagherShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberAfter firing head coach Sherrone Moore, the Michigan Wolverines seem to be on the verge of losing one of their top assistants as well.
Moore was fired for having an inappropriate relationship with a female staffer, leaving the school to search for his replacement, keep its recruiting class together, and convince star freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood not to transfer all while preparing to play a tough Texas Longhorns team in the Citrus Bowl on Dec. 31.
Persuading Underwood may get a little more difficult if Michigan loses its offensive coordinator, which is a real possibility according to a new report from Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.
“Michigan offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey has emerged as a leading candidate for the offensive coordinator job at Missouri, sources tell @CBSSports,” Zenitz wrote.

Losing both his head coach and offensive coordinator may be the perfect storm for Underwood deciding to hit the transfer portal and find more stability at another program.
Many have speculated Underwood could end up at LSU with new head coach Lane Kiffin and offensive coordinator Charlie Weiss Jr. He was originally committed to LSU last year before Michigan flipped him with a monster NIL offer.
In his first season with the Wolverines, Underwood threw for 2,229 yards, nine touchdowns, and six interceptions while rushing for 323 yards and another five scores. He led Michigan to a 9-3 record, a No. 18 ranking, and a Citrus Bowl date with Texas at the end of the year.
