Cyber Monday telescope deals we recommend
Moon & planetsSave 25% ($63.10)Celestron Starsense Explorer LT 80AZ: was $249.95 now $186.85 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼The perfect entry-level telescope for viewing the moon and planets, the StarSense Explorer LT 80AZ connects to your smartphone using the StarSense app, which guides you around the sky based on your time and location, so you don't need any prior knowledge of the night sky.
The 80mm aperture is best suited for lunar and planetary views, but won't be large enough for deep-sky observations. It's great for viewing the moon, Jupiter's moons and Saturn's rings, as well as getting a closer look at star clusters. Its compact frame and easy-to-use nature are perfect for adults and kids.

Moon & bright deep sky objectsSave 30% ($77.56)Celestron Starsense Explorer LT 114AZ: was $259.95 now $182.39 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼If you want something more powerful than the 80AZ model we mentioned above, this 114AZ model is exactly the same scope, but with a larger aperture — more light-gathering power. This means that you'll have a better chance of observing some of the brighter deep-sky objects, like the Andromeda Galaxy and Orion Nebula.
It's still a convenient and easy 'setup-and-go' scope, although you'll notice it's slightly bigger than the 80AZ, so it's not the most compact telescope. This model is better suited to those who want to really sink their teeth into astronomy, as opposed to just looking at the moon.

Great for beginners and kidsSave 24% ($23.95)Celestron Powerseeker 60AZ: was $99.95 now $76 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼A super simple, super affordable setup here, this 60mm telescope is ideal for complete beginners and kids. But don't let the price fool you, this telescope is much more than just a cheap toy.
For under $80, you'll be treated to beautiful views of the moon and planets, and some users say you can even see Andromeda.

Special editionSave 17% ($29.96)Celestron Moon Mission 100mm Tabletop Dobsonian: was $179.95 now $149.99 at celestron.comRead moreRead less▼Celestron has just launched their special edition 'Moon Mission' range of small telescopes. This 100mm tabletop telescope is the ideal solution if you're short on space, and it requires basically no setup. Plus, it comes with a moon map and moon filter to reduce some of the moon's bright glare so you can observe more comfortably.
This special edition "Moon Mission' range also features the Travel Scope 60 and Travel Scope 70.

Big astronomy binocularsSave 21% ($29.96)Celestron Skymaster 25x70: was $139.95 now $109.99 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼These big astronomy binoculars for stargazing have a huge 25x magnification and 70mm objective lenses — the perfect recipe for observing the night sky.
We tested the 15x70 model, which isn't on offer anymore, but we thought they were awesome for viewing the moon, planets and some brighter deep-sky objects like Andromeda. With this 25x pair, you'll be able to get even closer to your chosen subject.
Take note — these will need to be mounted on a tripod due to their size and magnification. If you want a handheld pair, check out the next two models.

Budget stargazingSave $4.05Celestron Upclose G2 10x50: was $51.95 now $47.90 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼These budget-friendly porro prism binoculars are perfect for anyone who wants to get a closer look at the full moon without having to spend hundreds. They were the first pair of binoculars our optics writer ever bought, and although they aren't the best optical quality in the world, they do the job nicely for under $50.
Plus, at this affordable price, they'd be a great pair of binoculars for kids.

Excellent quality Save $50Celestron Nature DX ED 10x50: was $269.95 now $219.95 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼For an increase in quality, these 10x50s have ED (extra-low dispersion) glass, which eliminates chromatic aberration that often shows up as purple and yellow color fringing around highly contrasted subjects — like the moon. Although there's still the tiniest sliver of fringing (to anyone like us who is incredibly picky), on the whole, it does what it says on the tin.
The 50mm objective lenses are perfect for low-light observations while still keeping things relatively lightweight. We reviewed the 10x42 variant and thought it was excellent value for money.

We awarded it 5 starsSave $300Canon EOS R7: was $1,649 now $1,349 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼Although full-frame cameras are typically favored for astrophotography, moon photography has similarities to wildlife photography in terms of photographing distant subjects, so a wide-angle prime lens won't be best suited.
As the Canon EOS R7 is an APS-C camera (and still an outstanding camera in its own right — we gave it 5 stars in our Canon EOS R7 review), it has a 1.6x crop factor when you use it with a full-frame lens. This will effectively extend the reach of any telephoto lens you use by 1.6x, which is very beneficial for moon photography. We'd recommend the Canon RF 200-800mm f/6.3-9 IS USM lens — we loved taking moon photos with it.
If you'd rather go full-frame, try the Canon EOS RP.

An old favoriteSony A7 III: $1,498 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼Sadly, it's not on offer for Cyber Monday, but it's a great price nonetheless, particularly if you're looking for a beginner astro camera.
We called it an 'all-purpose workhorse' in our full Sony A7 III review, and although technology has moved on in terms of firmware, autofocus and such, it's still an excellent choice for astrophotographers.
For moon photography, we'd recommend the Sony FE 200-600 f/5.6-6.3 G OSS lens.

Fantastic priceSave $253Nikon Nikon Z5 II: was $1,849.95 now $1,596.95 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼The Nikon Z5 II is a great, affordable option for entry-level astrophotography. It's quite a new camera, and this is the cheapest we've seen it (aside from a few days in the summer). It has Starlight Mode to help you compose in the dark, and red-tinted menus to preserve your night vision. A solid choice.
For moon photography, we'd recommend pairing it with the Nikon NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR lens.

Camera & lens bundleSave $300OM SYSTEM OM-5 with 12-45mm F4.0 Pro lens: was $1,599.99 now $1,299.99 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼The OM System OM-5 is a Micro Four-Thirds camera that packs a lot of punch for its size. The 20MP resolution probably won't win any awards for 'highest resolution' any time soon, but we've continuously been impressed with OM System cameras in recent tests. Plus, it comes with a lens to get you started.
Plus, the OM-5 features Starry Sky Autofocus, which was spot-on every time during our full OM-1 Mark II review. If you're doing moon photography, we'd recommend picking up the M.Zuiko ED 150-600mm f/5-6.3 IS lens.
