Former New York Giants two-time Super Bowl-winning defensive coordinator Bill Belichick is one of five individuals who have reached the finalist stage across three categories for possible election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2026.

Per the Hall of Fame, moving within one step of inclusion, along with Belichick (coach) in the next class of enshrinees are New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft (contributor), former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Ken Anderson, former San Francisco 49ers running back Roger Craig, and former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end L.C. Greenwood (seniors).

The remaining step for the finalists is garnering approval from at least 80 percent of the members of the full Selection Committee at their annual meeting next year, in advance of the class unveiling during Super Bowl LX week in San Francisco.

Belichick was chosen from a group a coaches that included former Giants head coaches Tom Coughlin and Dan Reeves, Mike Holmgren, Chuck Knox, Buddy Parker, Marty Schottenheimer, George Seifert, and Mike Shanahan.
