Show me the facts
Explain it like I’m 5
Give me a lighthearted recap
I have a little confession for you, dear reader. I have played The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt more times than is perhaps healthy. And I have paid money for it so often that I may have single-handedly funded The Witcher 4's development.
I put over 100 hours into The Witcher 3 on PlayStation 4 when it first came out. Then I picked it up on Xbox One X to play at 60fps. Then I picked it up on Nintendo Switch to play in handheld. Then I picked it up for PlayStation 5 to enjoy the next-gen version. Then I got it on Steam so I could play on Steam Deck. I have a sickness. And I don't think I'm done.
The Witcher 3 Is Basically Free On Steam Right Now
Go and play one of the greatest games ever made

Given that I now own The Witcher 3 on every possible platform, I must spread my sickness. That's why I'm here to tell you The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is basically free on Steam right now. I say "basically free", because it's a whopping 90 percent off. That means you're paying $3.99. For well over 100 hours of open-world RPG bliss, that price is an absolute steal.
Mind you, $3.99 only gets you the base game. As big as that is on its own, you could pay just a few dollars more for the Complete Edition, which includes the excellent Hearts Of Stone and Blood And Wine expansions.
"You are Geralt of Rivia, mercenary monster slayer. Before you stands a war-torn, monster-infested continent you can explore at will. Your current contract? Tracking down Ciri — the Child of Prophecy, a living weapon that can alter the shape of the world."
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is widely regarded as one of the greatest video games of all-time, and if you've somehow never played it, this is the perfect time to get on board. I can confirm from experience it runs great on Steam Deck, and if you want to try out mods but don't really know how to do it via Nexusmods or similar sites, the game recently got official mod support from CD Projekt RED.
It'll Keep You Busy Till The Witcher 4
We've got a long wait ahead of us
If nothing else, a replay of The Witcher 3 should help keep us busy till The Witcher 4 releases. There's no word on a proper release window for the next game, by the way, but we do know CD Projekt RED plans to release the entire trilogy of 4, 5, and 6 in the span of six years, which is frankly madness.
But we don't need to think about that right now. Screw your backlog of new games. Ciri needs you to go to Velen and play Gwent with as many drunk peasants as you can find, then maybe go and slay some monsters if you feel like it. That's what The Witcher 3 is all about, after all.
