The Virginia Tech Hokies opened the early signing period on Wednesday morning, awaiting the decisions of a few targets. Around noon, one of Virginia Tech’s top targets, 4-star linebacker Terry Wiggins, made his decision:

That’s right, another former Penn State commitment was following head coach James Franklin to Blacksburg. It seems like we’ve said a few times this week, “This is a huge get for the Hokies.” And in every instance, that was true. With Wiggins, we are repeating it. Wiggins is a 6-foot-3, 210-pound linebacker from Coatesville Area High School in Coatesville, Pennsylvania.

Wiggins initially committed to the Nittany Lions in May. A Pennsylvania native, going to “Linebacker U” was a big deal. Playing for Franklin and Penn State linebacker coach Dan Conner was important. However, it was that relationship with Franklin that would win out. Penn State’s situation helped make it easy for Wiggins, but it’s a coup for the Hokies to go into Pennsylvania and land a 4-star linebacker.

Unlike Tyson Harley, Wiggins is not considered an edge rusher. He can play the MIKE or outside. Wiggins has length and explosiveness, but also possesses tremendous instincts. Like many in this class, including Harley, Wiggins has the frame to add more weight without sacrificing any athleticism. How soon can he make an impact in Blacksburg? Don’t rule out a role in 2026.

How did Wiggins celebrate his big day?

Welcome home, Terry.
