LANCASTER — The Mid-State League is currently accepting membership applications for potential start dates in the 2027-2028 or 2028-2029 school years.

Interested Districts should submit information to Commissioner Matt McPhail via email at [email protected].

Conference Description: The Mid-State League is a longstanding athletic conference in Central Ohio that has served small and mid-size school districts for over 75 years. Currently, the league has 16 active members in two divisions, Buckeye and Cardinal.

Member schools range in size from Division III to Division VII. They are distributed among several central Ohio counties, including Fairfield, Franklin, Pickaway, Muskingum and Perry, as well as Hocking, when Logan High School, which is currently a Division II school, joins the league in 2027-2028.

The Mid-State League has been well represented at the state level and provides a highly competitive opportunity for member schools while fostering a high standard of ethics and sportsmanship among all participants.

Application Details and Timeline: Interested school districts should submit a letter of interest detailing a description of the district, sports offered at both the high school and middle school levels, and student enrollment. Applications should be submitted by the Superintendent of Schools and they should designate a point of contact for follow-up communication.

Application / Process / Timeline: Application Deadline - January 30, 2026: District Presentations and Interviews - February 2026.

Invitations to potential New Members: - March 2026. Start dates for new member schools would be either the 2027-2028 or 2028-2029 school years, depending on specific circumstances involved in the transition.
