A second Mizzou player has announced their intention to enter the transfer portal when it opens Jan. 2.

Missouri football freshman running back Brendon Haygood is expected to transfer out of the program this offseason. Haygood, a Wylie, Texas, native who committed to the Tigers in the Class of 2026, reposted a PowerMizzou report on X/Twitter that he intends to enter the portal when it opens.

Haygood only appeared in one game this season for the Tigers, playing four snaps in Mizzou’s Week 3 nonconference win over Louisiana. He touched the ball on all of those plays, taking four carries for 12 rushing yards.

According to PFF, he did not appear in any other games this season. Haygood will preserve a redshirt and four years of eligibility.

Haygood was buried down the depth chart behind Doak Walker Award finalist Ahmad Hardy, Jamal Roberts and fellow freshman Marquise Davis. All three of those players, as well as longtime backup Tavorus Jones, are eligible to return for Mizzou next season.

Mizzou signed three-star recruit Maxwell Warner out of Chicago in its Class of 2026 on Wednesday.

Mizzou flipped Haygood’s original high school commitment to Boise State shortly before early signing day in December 2024. He was a four-star recruit and was the No. 399-ranked player in his class in 247Sports’ composite rankings.

The college football transfer portal is officially open Jan. 2-16. There will be no spring transfer portal window.

It’s unlikely that players who announce an intention to transfer will announce a new school before the portal officially opens, as that is the date their portal paperwork can officially be processed.
