Auburn‘s new coaching staff has hit the ground running.

On Wednesday, the Tigers pulled off their biggest flip yet by landing four-star defensive lineman Corey Wells, who was previously committed to Texas since early June. The Tigers’ previous staff hosted Wells for an unofficial visit earlier this season and made their move after also bringing him to campus in June for an official visit. He nearly committed then, but the Longhorns held on.

But after another late push, Alex Golesh and Co. have one of their biggest recruiting wins early in his tenure.

“It was amazing. I’m not going to lie. It was my first Auburn game, a night game and it was amazing,” he told AuburnSports.com earlier this year. “The fourth quarter (show) was very exciting. That was something different. It was hype, real lit and I really liked it.”

The 6-foot-5, 290-pound Wells was part of a deep defensive line class for the Longhorns along with five-stars Richard Wesley and James Johnson, as well as four-stars Dylan Berymon and Jamarion Carlton.

But now he becomes the sixth prospect to commit to the Tigers since Golesh was hired, joining defensive lineman Tavian Branch, quarterback Rhys Brush, offensive lineman Mykall Lundy-Foster, wideout DeShawn Spencer and tight end Damarcus Broughton.
