CBS Sports is elevating former PGA Tour player Colt Knost into its booth for the network’s upcoming golf coverage.
Knost, 40, has been working with the CBS golf team since 2019 as an on-course reporter, joining the network full-time in 2021. He is best known for winning the 2007 U.S. Amateur along with the 2007 U.S. Public Links, and represented America in that year’s Walker Cup. Knost turned professional soon after, forfeiting invitations as U.S. Am champ into the Masters, U.S. Open and Open Championship. He won twice on the Nationwide Tour to earn his PGA Tour card for the 2009 season. Knost ultimately made 199 starts on the PGA Tour, retiring in 2020.

Knost’s promotion comes in the wake of Ian Baker-Finch’s retirement over the summer. The 1991 Open winner had spent 30 years in broadcasting, with his last 19 years coming with CBS. Knost will join Jim Nantz, Trevor Immelman and Frank Nobilo in the booth. Dottie Pepper will continue as the lead on-course reporter, with Mark Immelman also covering from the ground and Amanda Balionis conducting interviews.
“Colt has become a valued voice on our team, bringing insight, energy, and his engaging personality to every broadcast,” said CBS Sports’ executive Harold Bryant in a statement. “Elevating him alongside Jim, Trevor, and Frank in our ‘super tower’ is a natural next step that reflects the trust and respect he’s earned.”
CBS Sports will return to golf coverage beginning on Jan. 31 at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.
