Ohio State football loses one of its top 2026 wide receiver commits

Today is kind of like Christmas morning for those into big-time college football recruiting because it is the first day of the Early Signing Period, a day in which most of the high-profile recruits will officially sign their national letter of intent. But this day is usually not without drama, and we already have some with the Ohio State football program.

According to multiple reports, the Buckeyes have lost out on four-star receiver Kayden Dixon-Wyatt, who has decided to flip his commitment to USC. We don't entirely know why, but news broke Wednesday morning that Offensive Coordinator and Wide Receivers coach Brian Hartline is leaving the program to be the next head coach at USF.

Dixon-Wyatt, out of Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, is ranked as the No. 21 receiver and 135th overall recruit in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He has been committed since May. It's hard to imagine Hartline's departure didn't play a role, and now the watch is on for his high school teammate and top receiver in the country, Chris Henry Jr., and whether he sticks with his pledge to Ohio State or not.

We'll have more on this if it becomes available, but as always, we just have to keep our heads on a swivel during this time.
