The Huskies picked up a commitment from 3 star linebacker Ezaya Tokio today, further reinforcing their linebacker room! Tokio, out of Oceanside High School in Oceanside, California, had offers from schools such as Colorado, Cal, UCLA and Arizona State and others, but ultimately chose the Dawgs! Tokio, a transfer from St. Augustine High School in San Diego, recorded 34 total tackles in 2022, and 98 in 2023 before transferring. Although he played in only 4 games for Oceanside in 2024, he still finished with 28 total tackles, 10.5 TFL and 7.5 sacks, making an instant impact as soon as he arrived. He continued his supreme production in 2025, with 76 tackles, 11 TFL, and 8 sacks while also chipping in an interception, a forced fumble and 2 fumble recoveries. He can also play a bit of receiver, having caught 6 passes for 2 touchdowns, though I doubt the Huskies will put him in that role.
At 6’4” and 220 pounds, Tokio still has room to grow, and projects as an outside linebacker with the potential to play EDGE rusher, with 247’s Greg Biggins’ scouting report stating that Tokio is, “A naturally tough kid who runs through blockers and has the nastiness you like to see in a front seven defender.” With a front that struggles to get pressure, this could be the exact shot in the arm that is needed for this defense to take the next step!

However, Fisch did go with ZRS for some extended snaps, so it’s not entirely out of the question. Regardless, Tokio should be an interesting addition, and I hope that he is the cornerstone of this front seven when he is ready!
