Curt Cignetti gives injury updates on Elijah Sarratt, Drew Evans, more

Indiana football head coach Curt Cignetti provided a handful of injury updates during his usual Monday afternoon press conference ahead of the Hoosiers’ matchup against Purdue on Friday at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana.

The Hoosiers have been without multiple players for the past few weeks and others have kept playing with minor injuries. The bye week came at a good time for the program, with several of these players taking the time to rest and get back for the rivalry matchup against the Boilermakers and the postseason to come.

Asked specifically about wide receiver Elijah Sarratt, defensive end Mikail Kamara and offensive lineman Drew Evans, Cignetti had the following to say:

“Yeah, we expect Kamara will start,” Cignetti said. “Sarratt will start. Drew Evans, we’ll know more today, and him and the rest of them are working hard to get back on the field.”

Indiana has been without Sarratt since its matchup against Maryland, he was limited in the prior game against UCLA. Evans has missed Indiana’s past three games, but Cignetti’s words on Monday were more encouraging than they’ve been in the past, when he usually ruled him out. Kamara has played through a shoulder nerve issue and, as Cignetti said, looks to start.
