The Cleveland Guardians' trade plans for Steven Kwan aren't certain.

Rumors have suggested Kwan might be moved since the summer, but he hasn't been moved yet.

That hasn't stopped the ideas from persisting. It's the timeline Cleveland usually moves on from stars on, with two years remaining on the contract.

The Guardians, from a baseball perspective, can't really afford to lose Kwan. He's their second-best hitter and a Gold Glove outfielder.

But if they decide to move him, some other team out there will benefit greatly.

ESPN's Bradford Doolittle has suggested the Mariners as a strong destination.

"I love this idea so much," Doolittle writes. "Kwan would return to the West Coast, about a four-hour drive from Corvallis, where he starred for Oregon State. He would give the Mariners a needed upgrade at a corner outfield spot, teaming with Julio Rodriguez to improve Seattle's outfield defense. Most importantly, he could slide into the leadoff spot, offering contact and OBP as a poor man's Ichiro, hitting in front of Cal Raleigh, Rodriguez and his old Cleveland teammate, Josh Naylor. Let's get this done."

If there's any place that Guardians fans should want Kwan to end up, it might be Seattle.

From a sentimental standpoint, it may be easier to root for Kwan while he plays with Naylor for a team that isn't a perennial winner but is rather trying to get over the hump.

And from a trade standpoint, it'd be ideal. The Mariners have eight top-100 prospects. The Guardians would likely get multiple very promising young players in any deal sending Kwan to Seattle.

Whether it's a trade that will actually happen or not remains to be seen. But it's one with plenty of reason to wonder about it.
