julian kingWed, December 3, 2025 at 11:03 AM UTC·1 min readDuke’s win over Florida was intense and dramatic. You could pick any number of moments – 11 blocked shots, multiple great plays by Cameron Boozer, or Boogie Fland coughing the ball up at the end and call them the most dramatic plays.
Still, we’re pretty sure that most Duke fans would agree with us that the most iconic play to come out of this game, the one that we’ll all remember, was Isaiah Evans’ late three.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementWith Florida up 66-64, arguably the smarter thing would have been to go conservative and try to tie the game and take it into overtime.
We don’t know if Duke specifically drew this play up for Evans or not. He had been cold from the outside, missing all seven threes, and scored all of his 13 points inside.
In fact, one of the underrated aspects of this season is that Evans is no longer a liability if he’s not hitting threes: far from it. Not only did he play very solid defense, he took the ball inside and, amazingly, got 5 blocks on the night.
We don’t know if JonScheyer drew this up for Scheyer…but we kind of hope he did. And either way, what swagger by Evans. What absolute belief in himself after an awful shooting night to step up and hit this badass game winner. Somewhere, if he was watching Christian Laettner watched this and smiled. It was that good.
