The high school sports season is rapidly unfolding, which means it's once again time for everyone's favorite part of the week: The Gainesville Sun's Athlete of the Week Poll.

Our nomination process is a little different this season. Please click here to see how to nominate. Nominations are due Monday morning, and they can be sent in by anyone — coaches, administrators, friends, family. It is imperative to send in nominations so we can continue to honor the best! Jayden Harriott, P.K. Yonge boys basketball

19 points and six rebounds in the Blue Wave’s 80-52 win over Santa Fe.

Justin Williams, Buchholz football

16 carries for 120 yards and two fourth quarter touchdowns in the Bobcats 27-20 region final win over Mandarin.

Mason VunCannon, Trenton boys basketball

18 points and six rebounds in the Tigers 70-69 win over Columbia.

Nathan Jennings, Hawthorne football

Three interceptions and a pick-six in the Hornets 36-6 state semifinal win over Chiefland that sent the Hornets to their sixth straight state title game.

Taylor Booth, Buchholz girls basketball

23 points in the Bobcats win over Vanguard.

Taylor Buchanan, Keystone Heights girls soccer

Two goals and two assists in the Indians 8-0 win Branford.

Ya’Zuri Hollie, Fort White girls basketball

43 points in the Indians wins over Bishop Snyder and Gainesville High.
