CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – University of Akron Men’s Soccer has advanced to the 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship Quarterfinals with the help of Canfield graduate Jack Roman.
“Still doesn’t feel real, honestly, coming to Akron, being on the team and being a starter. Its just a dream come true,” said Roman.

Roman is a 2024 Canfield graduate and, upon graduation, joined the Zip’s Men’s Soccer program.
As a freshman, Roman said he played only 20 minutes a game, but now, he is a full-fledged starter.
“This year I’ve become a starter, I’ve started every game, almost played every single minute, scoring goals and getting some assists,” said Roman.
The Canfield native has five goals, six assists, and 16 total points in 20 games this season. He also recorded an assist in the 2-0 win over Duke in the NCAA Tournament third round.
“People thought we were going to have an off year, but we didn’t let that happen,” said Roman. “We wanted to make sure that we could show everybody that we can do what it takes.”

The Akron sophomore is third in goals and second in assists for the Zips this season.
“As a sophomore, I had more of a leadership role on the team, so I was able to show people and be more confident on the field,” said Roman.
