Blake Grupe might land on his feet with an AFC playoff team just one week after the New Orleans Saints let him go. Grupe participated in a group workout with the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday, per the Indy Star's Joel Erickson. The Colts waived their own kicker Michael Badgley on the same day so they're clearly going in another direction.

Badgley, 30, only kicked in seven games with the Colts while making 10 of his 11 field goals and 18 of 21 extra point tries; his third miss on a point-after attempt cost him his job. His longest field goal came from 53 yards. Grupe, meanwhile, made 18 of his 26 field goals but was perfect on PAT's. The 27-year old may be seen as a more reliable option by Indianapolis, but his six missed field goals from inside 40 yards led the NFL during his time with the Saints. That played a big part in New Orleans' decision to move on from him.

Still, good luck to Grupe in this tryout. He was a class act during his time with the Saints and could benefit from a change of scenery. Continuing to kick indoors at Lucas Oil Stadium is an obvious benefit, and just two of the Colts' final five games will be played outdoors. One of those is a potential cold-weather game against the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field, where Grupe missed a 52 yarder earlier this year. But we're getting ahead of ourselves. Before worrying about matchups, he needs to outkick his competition on Tuesday and win this job.
