NFL power rankings: Falcons drop to No. 24 entering Week 14

The Atlanta Falcons have five games left to play but very little to play for after losing six out of their last seven. Making matters worse, the team doesn't even have a first-round draft pick in 2026 to help ease the pain of another wasted season.

Sunday's 27-24 loss to the New York Jets was another instance of the Falcons playing well enough to win yet still finding a way to lose. Despite Bijan Robinson putting up nearly 200 total yards, Atlanta's offense came up short with multiple chances to put the game away.

The Falcons defense performed well enough but a lack of timely stops in the fourth quarter also hurt the team in Week 13. However, special teams blunders were arguably the biggest reason for Sunday's loss. Atlanta fumbled a punt return, gave up an 80-yard kick return, and missed a field goal in a game decided by three points.

So, where do the Falcons sit in NFL.com's Week 14 power rankings? The team dropped three spots down to No. 24 in Eric Edholm's latest rankings:

Kirk Cousins threw the ball pretty well again. Bijan Robinson had a huge statistical game -- again. Atlanta had a season-low one penalty and controlled the clock. And yet, the Falcons lost -- again -- in disappointing fashion, the details of which were fairly predictable. Playoff chances were pretty much gone before Sunday's loss to the Jets, and they're even more remote now. It's shocking to think how far and fast this thing has fallen apart since the post-bye win over Buffalo, even amid all the injuries. -- Eric Edholm, NFL.com

The Falcons aren't technically out of the playoffs, but even if they were to win all five remaining games, they would still need a ton of help to have a shot at the postseason. All the team can hope for at this point is to play consistent football and end the year with some semblance of pride.

In Week 14, Atlanta will host the 9-3 Seattle Seahawks at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Seahawks are in a tight race for the NFC West division crown with the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers.

Kirk Cousins and the Falcons offense will need to play their absolute best to beat a stacked Seattle defense. Sunday's game kicks off at 1 p.m. ET.
