Cason Wallace has won the October/November Western Conference Player of the Month award. Thunder teammates Chet Holmgren and Lu Dort were also nominated. Amen Thompson was the other nominee. Out East, Scottie Barnes was the winner.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementFor a second straight season, the Thunder have by far the NBA's best defense. Look at whatever defensive stat you want, they're at the top or near it. That's the side of the ball they've leaned on to win an NBA championship last season and look primed to go back-to-back.
Wallace has helped with that. He's averaged 8.7 points on 43.7% shooting, 2.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 20 games. He also averages 2.2 steals, which is second in the NBA behind Dyson Daniels.
Juggling injuries, the Thunder have relied on Wallace to go up against the opposition's best perimeter scorers. Let's just say he's done an excellent job. In his third season, he's had enough experience and watched enough tape to figure out the tendencies of the NBA's best scorers.
