MANHATTAN — Kansas State football coach Chris Klieman said he reached out to the Big 12 regarding the officiating from the Wildcats' 51-47 loss at No. 12 Utah on Saturday, Nov. 22.
The play in question came when the Wildcats were flagged for an illegal substitution with 4:01 left in the game. Utah came up short on a fourth-and-2 run that could have given the Wildcats possession when they were up by 10, but they were flagged for having too many players on the field.

The Utes snapped the ball before the two Wildcats made it to the sideline, and a flag was thrown.
Utah proceeded to score a touchdown on that drive, and again with 56 seconds left, to escape with the four-point victory and its College Football Playoff hopes still intact.
"I reached out, and I'm sure they're busy," Klieman said on Monday, Nov. 24. "I have not gotten anything back yet on that, but just an explanation is all I think all of us want."

A judgment call on a potential pass interference earlier in the game saw an official pick up a flag on a critical two-point conversion, which the Utes picked off and returned for a score. Instead of an extra opportunity to go up by two touchdowns, Utah was suddenly within 10.
Kansas State fell to 5-6 overall and 4-4 in Big 12 play with the loss. The Wildcats will host Colorado on Nov. 29, hoping to clinch bowl eligibility.
