Former Boston Celtics forward Danilo Gallinari has officially retired from the sport of basketball as a player, according to a social media post made on Tuesday (Dec. 2) morning. Gallinari never actually set foot on the court with the Celtics, an ACL injury sustained in FIBA play during the 2022 offseason in which he signed with Boston after being cut by the San Antonio Spurs, requiring an entire season to recover from.
The Italian forward posted the following in his retirement message: "Today, with a heart full of gratitude, I am announcing my retirement from the career I’ve always dreamed of. It’s been an incredible journey filled with countless memories that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart."
