The Philadelphia Eagles aren't getting the usual production from Saquon Barkley so far in 2025. Through 11 games, Barkley has recorded just 684 rushing yards and four touchdowns at a demoralizing 3.7 yards per carry. That statistical output is in stark contrast to Barkley's 2024 campaign, when he eclipsed 2,000 yards at nearly six yards per attempt.
Barkley's struggles have led the Eagles to pursue reinforcements. According to KPRC2's Aaron Wilson, Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman made a strong effort to sign former Texans running back Dameon Pierce before he signed with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Pierce, 25, was recently released by Houston and cleared waivers heading into Week 12. Over his first four seasons, Pierce totaled 1,642 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. His standout year came as a rookie in 2022, when he tallied 1,104 yards and five touchdowns in just 13 games.

The Eagles brought in Tank Bigsby during the offseason and, despite looking like the better back at times, he hasn't been trusted with a larger workload. Bigsby has totaled 162 yards on just 18 attempts at 9.2 yards per carry for Philadelphia this year. Adding Pierce would further complicate the backfield splits.
We'll see what Pierce's role will be alongside Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco in Kansas City.
